I went to the Director’s Village theater tonight to go see a screening of “The Sixth Sense”, but then M. Night Shyamalan walked up on stage, and revealed that he was actually gonna show the entirety of his new movie “Remain” 5 months early. 😅

Now that a sizeable chunk of my time is spent licensing manga, one thing I've thought about is that even the basic information about how licensing/content acquisition works (not just for manga, but even for TV/Film on the US side) is very much kept behind closed doors… (cont.)

Random late-night thought while I wait for my flight to Otakon: What classic (pre-2000s for this purpose) shojo/josei manga would you kill to see in English? Preferably from mangaka who don't currently have any of their work licensed.

FRIDAY at #SDCC! The Best & Worst Manga of 2026 panel! 6-7 pm in Room 4 See what this all-star cast of manga editors, journalists and librarians think you should be reading next, and the manga you should avoid like day-old sushi!

This is something that Harrison from Mahjong Pros and I have been thinking about for a while: A way we can help fellow publishers and indie creators in the manga space get the support they need to bring their projects to a wider audience.

Come to San Diego Comic-Con for our panel, stay for the Manga Publishing Industry Roundtable, feat. @vlordgtz.bsky.social! Join us in room 29ab on Thursday at 5pm for our panel and at 6pm for the Industry Roundtable. Enjoy two hours of back-to-back manga industry publishing insights and discussion!

It’s honestly super bizarre to me that they’re screening Avatar Aang at AMC Burbank Town Center 6, instead of an AMC in LA that has screens with actual substantial seating. Like this should have been at Century City or The Grove imo.

It’s been amazing seeing shojo fans show such strong and positive support for The Sword of Paros announcement! This is easily our craziest (and frankly most expensive) project to date, so all the pre-orders and sharing are a massive help! 😭😭😭

We just announced The Sword of Paros by Kaoru Kurimoto and Yumiko Igarashi at AX! Now available for pre-order on the MMB Store: buff.ly/bkuyptd

The cover features a soft pink background, with ornate golden designs framing the artwork. At the center, there’s an illustration depicting a princess-like figure with long hair, wearing an elegant dress, positioned beside a white horse. The scene radiates a magical atmosphere, enhanced by pastel colors and dreamy floral patterns in the background. The title of the book, "The Sword of Paros," is prominently displayed in a whimsical font, colored in a soft purple and gold.

I think this is the first time that I'm on two panels at a convention that are back-to-back with each other in the same room (Manga Mavericks Industry Panel and Manga Publishing Industry Roundtable)! Please come by both of them if you can! 🙏
