Irish Mammy, wife, rugby, lefty, LGBT+ she/her Politics without empathy is just greedy capitalism. A bee isn't going to waste time trying to convince a fly that honey is sweeter than shite...
Teenage boys Stories of them: Assaulting women Assaulting non nationals Raping women Stealing vehicles Murdering people It starts that early. And yet if we point out that male culture is the problem with society, we're somehow hating me. At what point to we face the problem head on?
I mean, duh. Every change so societal structure, health services or employment always serves men better and women worse. See also. Poor people always worse off.
The Irish Times view on AI and the workplace: women could be the losers
Ok, guilty pleasure....MAFS The episode where the guy who talks about "I'm a warrior" and how we need more warriors, Knights, heroes, real men. Then he drops her when dancing. Then goes FULL Streisand wanting it left out in post production to save her blushes. Howled laughing. Always the alphas.
Had a big interview recently. I'm not desperate to move, but was really drawn by the role. The interview was....flat. very muted responses from the interviewers from the start, so no clue how well I did. I thought I gave a good account of myself, but no idea how it was received. The thing is...
The finding out stage of fucking around...
Just took apart a kids bed to put together their new bunk beds that Santa brought. But Santa, without me realising, only delivered package 1 of 4, so now I have a child with no bed. Ordered in October 5th, projected 2 week delivery, they shipped ¼ of it 4 weeks later. I'm LIVID.
Found my four sets of great grandparents in the census. Incredible stuff and lovely to see.
Healy-Rae speaks so well here. Pity it's fraught with hypocrisy, as many things he has said and done has actively offended and harmed countless people. Call for kindness, absolutely, but start offering it to people you haven't even taken the time to speak to yet.
Trump, dressed as an air traffic controller during the TSA strike. He's directing the plane to go up
This is something that has gone under the radar a little. Orban didn't lose to a progressive, he lost to someone just a touch less authoritarian than him.
It's obviously a relief that Viktor Orban's rule is over. But there is a major caveat. His replacement is horribly right-wing - he's even more anti-migrant than Orban. Hopefully he'll roll back the authoritarianism and stop blocking EU action on e.g. Israel.
This man has posted on SM in the past saying he wouldn't mind seeing Greta Thunberg raped. That it's the only "action" she'll get. He's claimed Muslims are trying to take over the world. In case you're wondering who is running the fuel protests.
€505m came out the gov’t surplus. Tánaiste confirmed it’ll affect Budget ‘27. Every cent spent on haulier diesel this weekend is a cent that won’t be spent on disability allowance, homelessness, or carers in Oct. That is not a metaphor. That is the arithmetic Simon Harris just signed off on. (3/4)
The €505m package has been rejected by a leading organiser as “an insult.” Motorways are still blocked this morning. Whatever the blockades were about, they were never really about fuel. “The Blockade Is the Message” already said so. This morning just confirmed it. (1/4) #FuelFascists
They're all a bunch of twats with anti-social personality disorder.
Why would anyone be shocked that they're still blockading. Government just capitulated to two of the heaviest subsidised industries to the tune of .5 billion. They paid the hostages ransom and didn't even get the hostage.
Oh good, Trump is having a tantrum and threatening to annihilate Iran again. What a deranged world we live in.
It's great that we didn't wake up to the annihilation of a civilisation all the same 👀
Had a chat with my kids tonight about the fact that there are good and bad people in the world. Spoke about what makes someone good or bad, in simple terms. I told them we can't always stop bad people, but we can always choose to be good people. Sometimes that's all we can do, as hard as it is.
I would like to remind you all that you can do nothing about world affairs on a one day timeline and that you hold no culpability for harmful choices made by deplorable people.
I feel like tomorrow morning will be one of those moments. I've never REALLY worried that someone will obliterate an entire country and spark nuclear war. Going to bed tonight, there's a whole part of me that isn't sure it won't happen.
Every morning, the first thing I do is check the news to see if Trump has done something dystopian. Most mornings it's more of the same. But I still check, because I know it's imminent. This morning was one of those mornings.
The reality that news stories today about Trump might seem like an April fools, but probably isn't.
This is a decision The policies are designed to increase the value of an item that the policy makers all own. Some of them own many of them. Why would they devalue their own assets? This won't get better.
1️⃣7️⃣,3️⃣0️⃣8️⃣ Another new record for people living in emergency accommodation, as of the end of February 2026. The overall number includes 5,457 children, and is up 12.5% in a year. @virginmedianews.bsky.social
I accidentally bought an AI book for my kids. It was Amazon. I know. I should have known.
My kids have never seen, read or owned anything Harry Potter. Hopefully they never will.
You absolutely cannot separate the artist and the art without contributing to the persecution of trans people. Boycott everything Potter.
Morocco sent ball boys on to steal the Senegal keepers water and towel. They got ball boys and coaches verbally abusing players They cheated. And now they've won. What a total farce.
More spine, more bravery, more integrity than our own Taoiseach. Perhaps much of it is performative, but I'd rather someone who performs for the right reasons, than one who performs to appease a genocidal tyrant.
Happy St. Patrick's Day, New York.
One of the most controversial political opinions I have, is that charities should not exist. Charities do the work the government should do. Charities exist because the state fails to fully support the vulnerable. And the state is happy to let people choose to support them or not.
