Hi! I'm Chris from Airwindows and you can do this :)

Listen up bitches, this is serious. Here’s the plan for tomorrow morning. No exceptions. Everyone shows up. We’re gonna tumble out of bed. We’re gonna stumble to the kitchen. And we’re gonna pour ourselves a cup of goddamn ambition. Because we’ve got dreams they’ll never take away. Lock in.

Done with the Godot meeting! Got a different project for today, going to be making my second cup of coffee and then it's over to the stream and I'll get going on the new reverb idea :)

Gonna be late streaming: the Godot audio meeting turned into the 'reverb in games' meeting and is covering a lot of ground, and I'm doing my best to help :)

Rest day is going well. It usually translates to 'tinker with studio stuff not deemed important'. I replaced the lav mic in a corner aimed at my 'chamber hallway area' with a much lower noise mic built into the handrail of the stairs! Without carpentry :) There are several things that'll work with.

Weird weekend: trying to get over a fit of sickness while still posting ChannelX, make the video and freak out a bit over some funny noises I can't explain, spend hours vacillating (very little demo audio, too sick to pull it off) and top it off by waking AT midnight with the knowledge of where…

Lots of focus on Natalie Harp's being one of three aide shepherded out of Turkey while lesser priorities such as Marco Rubio remained on the plane. But check out who were the other two: Dan Scavino and Walt Nauta, the man who kept the secrets and lied about them in the Mar-A-Lago prosecution.

As usual didn't really need MORE yakshaving merriment on video making day, but I have this custom better-than-NS10-at-revealing-flaws mix check speaker, and am putting out RetroBass, and I knew the lowmids on my voice are a little heavy on the Colares… half an hour later, new video voice chain :)

Update to Meter, 0.4.3. The only purpose is to immediately give people using the standalone version one that works :) The only change is that the thing always runs and doesn't try to stop when the playhead in the DAW stops. 0.4.2 still works and follows the playhead. github.com/airwindows/M...

Putting some more work in on Meter. Turns out there's a path to renaming all my existing measured files by hand: for instance if it says Abcd I can very easily make that Adbcd and update Meter to say Adbc and then go back later and trim the extra 'authority' letter and so I have 1.4.2 mostly ready.

This guy is deeply awesome and worth looking into: sort of bringing the energy I have for musicmaking tools, to GMing tabletop roleplaying. Check out his 'Not A Drop To Drink' sessions for an example on youtube :)

I launched my TTRPG focused Patreon today and people seem to like it and are saying nice things about it and I don't know how to handle it and if you wanna check it out it's here Patreon.com/JacobBurgess and AHHHHHHHH!

Lark's Tongues now, but I have to shift to regular work mode at some point, can't do all the records today. Repeatedly now I've captured records where, even at low no-clip volume, the artistry meant I HAD to listen to the music, not do something else. And often gave me ideas for my own sounds.

One thing tho… taking a break from newly-acquired record capturing to do one I got from the lady in BC I dated. She'd heard me talking about it and went and found a copy. The Dead compilation, 'What A Long Strange Trip It's Been'. Made after they had already left the label, I don't know who did it…

Going on a mad vinyl-capturing binge now that I've updated Meter. Good reason for it: a record store opened in Keene. Dodo Music, it's called. The guy running it is the best sort of madman, is cleaning everything with a terrific cleaning-machine and anything with no plastic sleeve gets one of his…

Meter update for this morning: 0.3.7 added a thing. Let's consider that if you're making 'clouds' of varying data, CLIP LENGTH must be considered on the grounds that if it's repetitive that is more of an annoying sound than constant variance. And so, added clip length to the peak cloud.

Tested the new weird hack for clip aliasing management stacked four deep running Spiral with each instance adding 6dB, on vinyl tracks I know by heart that I can't play on stream. I think it checks out. Definitely doing something, not too much added energy around the edges, and I'm happy with it.

I've got Meter and ConsoleX3 responding to playhead in Reaper (i.e. when not playing, they stop). And better backdrop gradient color. And the playhead thing broke in TwistedWave, and I came up with a way for that to still work :) all in all, an OK day :)

Got to hand it to testing. Dozens of tracks into Meter retesting, the fundamentals are working and the category letter grades, I've been able to come up with better explanations for what they do and why they're there. But they're all persistently off by a few numbers, across genres and mediums.

Tinkered with nautilus-shell speaker design, measuring songs. Holy crap, the conga part on Bowie's 'Stay' absolutely kills. It's buried like a single handclap in the groove but it's crazy good, sneakily hiding behind drumkit. It's so good!

Oh, I get it. Yes there are bombs going off. But that means it's Old Home Day, and there are fireworks I'm going to be working through. All righty then, earplugs and determination and this too shall pass.

WOOF is Meter ever kicking my butt today. It's supposed to be video day but I always like to do music-react videos. Those use Meter and I'm wrestling with Meter all morning. Gonna be a tough, tough day. I have to understand all these new things about how it's working to do what I want.

Working a lot more on the Meter revision. I'd have started with re-measuring everything before, but all day was taken up with little hacks, adjustments, test cases. This is the one that's able to handle very loud modern stuff more gracefully and has useful opinions on them besides just dislike…

WOOF. Four hours after my work day was supposedly over, I've got a prototype new version of Meter where I've still not quite dialed in all the internals. It tries to do the 'evenly dispersed point cloud' thing more than it ever has, and still learning what that means to the sound. BUT…

Put quite a bit of work into the stompbox project, to good effect. I'm getting closer to having a layout for the point-to-point wiring it'll have, and I pulled off a really fun power supply hack while I was at it. These will be voiced in the build process, individually, to fit the transistors :)

Up super early and blanking all my Meter ratings one… more… time… because I hit on something that should be really revealing. Lowercase. The subcategory ratings can go up from t to a for all the more open-sounding mixes. Then what was G (and acted like a magic value for hit records) becomes a.
