In policymaking and coalition building, there is no “should.” If you’re saying a politician or CEO or whoever “should” support or oppose something, you’re missing the point. Your job is to create the conditions that make it more likely for your desired thing to happen.

Minnesota is amazing at elections, in my up-front experience. Smart systems to make voting (a right!) accessible for citizens young and old, rich and poor, urban and rural, while also preventing fraud. Hardworking and conscientious volunteers to make the whole thing happen on the day.

I just finished a 15-hour day working the polls for the Minnesota primary election, and every single person doing that volunteer work at my precinct was a woman. 85% of the people in my city in the training were women. Men, do you like democracy?
