Mid-way through finishing my lecture, office decided to shut all apps down and update. Right NOW. I just love my timelines being dictated by an algorithm, because I haven't noticed a pop up an hour ago or so...

This is an excellent analogy, because my recollection from grade school is that the pen on the right looks fun and exciting, and then you play with it for a few minutes and realize it's not actually useful for anything and in fact makes some tasks more cumbersome, and never think about it again.

yeah, just out of interest, how many people choose the pen on the right for real work or art? See a lot of them in professional workplaces, do you?

I literally started my 1st Research Methods class yday with 'Blue Monday' as an example of how some claims lack sci evidence and how we will learn to better distinguish anecdotes from facts. Disappointed with Zoe- for a company that claims to be science-informed, this is poor choice of advertising.

After a streak of paper rejections, a lovely R&R landed in my inbox last night- a paper co-written with a fantastic MSc student last Autumn. I am so excited about this, especially as this is a bit outside of my usual research topic. 🤩

In our heart of hearts we all know that Stranger Things had one good series ("season" for Americans) and its basically all been a bad idea ever since then.

When calculating a correlation we sometimes apply a correction for attenuation due to reliability. Has anyone ever suggested a similar correction for a between-groups comparison? After all, reliability of the DV affects those the same way (and they are often just a dichotomised correaltion).
