Slowly lumbering zombies always seemed so unrealistic to me, but now I have a crawling baby who follows me everywhere I go at a relatively slow speed, and if I'm quick enough I can do things to stay ahead of him, but I very much understand zombie movies.

Hopkins was my first big bike battle after moving back to Berkeley. The initial Hopkins Council referral, from 2018, is itself old enough to ride a bike. If this very reasonable compromise doesn’t work, my fall-back plan is car-free Hopkins.

Obi-Wan Kenobi saying, “IF YOU STRIKE ME DOWN, I WILL COME BACK WITH A CAR-FREE HOPKINS PLAN”Justin Timberlake’s character in The Social Network, saying, “YOU WANT A PLAN THAT'S REALLY SAFE? CAR-FREE HOPKINS IS *REALLY* SAFE.”The debate guy meme sitting with a sign that reads, “CAR-FREE HOPKINS IS A PLAN THAT IS *REALLY* SAFE. CHANGE MY MIND”

I'm writing thank you notes to all of our daycare teachers, and my hand is cramping up terribly. I can't believe I used to longhand write out essays during exams. No wonder paper charts used to be so concise.

When you see the story about how the world now has its first trillionaire, and when you see the story about how laboratories in Congo have run out of supplies to test for Ebola, it is important to understand that in many ways these are the same story.

I'm at a local bar that has the most volume of green and yellow chartreuse in one place that I have seen in many years. They are doing flights of three different vintages of each color, for $15 each. I'm in heaven.

My baby got an initial dose of the MMR vaccine early, and I can't even explain how grateful and relieved I am. Worrying that I was going to get exposed at work and then bring it home to him was horrible.

This is my favorite cathedral in NYC, and one of my favorite in the world. It's SO big and fun to get lost wandering through, and then you suddenly run into a Keith Haring triptych and it's modern and wonderful and touching.

A family of Ravens is putting the goth back in gothic at NYC's largest cathedral--St John the Divine. There are five mouths to feed, so the parents are staying busy! ⛪️⛪️⛪️ #Ravens #Cathedral #birding

I frequently think of things as I'm writing my note that I hadn't fully considered previously. If I need to consider PE, it helps to write down that the patient is PERC negative--or maybe it prompts me to order a dimer. If I let AI do my MDM, I miss that valuable cognitive synthesis step.

"The act of writing it is itself a cognitive process: it forces synthesis, prioritisation, and reflection. It is, in a real sense, how we think. When we outsource that act to an AI, we ... are externalising a cognitive function that was doing clinical work we didn’t realise it was doing."

At the family camp we've gone to my whole life, they have a breakfast omelette bar. And my favorite is called the Avignon Papacy. It is billed as French influence over Italian ingredients: mozzarella, tomatoes, basil, and Italian sausage inside, with a smear of Dijon mustard and Brie melted on top.
