You know, building public transportation networks, high-speed rail, installing bike lanes, and offering tax credits and point-of-sale rebates for e-bikes and other small EVs would go at least some way toward making sure no one ever has to be held hostage by petrostates and maniacal authoritarians.

Taxiing my eldest to D&D in the bakfiets, I yelled “you’re parked in a bike lane” at a driver and said hi to the mayor, who was biking the other direction. Didn’t react fast enough to offer the mayor an ice cream. @andrewknack.bsky.social
