I Thought I Was the Only One

For more than 50 years, I believed what happened to me was simply my story. When I was a child, I was sexually abused by an elder. I believed I had simply been incredibly unlucky. I never questioned how something like this could happen inside the religion I trusted. Then I started searching for answers. What began as a journey to understand my own childhood led me to examine the history, policies, publications, court cases, and experiences of others. The more I learned, the more I realized my story wasn't as isolated as I had believed. This video isn't about attacking every Jehovah's Witness. Many are sincere people who genuinely care about children. It's about understanding how institutional policies and culture can affect the protection of children—and why asking honest questions matters.
