I’ve gotten a lot of questions, so to clarify: A chudwaffle is the opposite of a studmuffin.

Leadership at major publishers are in boardrooms as we speak frantically discussing how they need to get the license to the Odyssey IP/make an "Odyssey killer"/start working on their own Odyssey-like and in 5 years we're going to get trailers for 10 of these and maybe two will release.

In an industry renowned for creativity, why are we stifling it?
I am a deep hater of video game auteur culture, but I will allow Miyamoto to have it when he continues to champion the idea of developers telling the stories they want to tell and keeping the spirit of play in a tech-enshittified industry alive.

Musicals having musical numbers that exist in a separate space with different rules of storytelling is a good way to explain that ludonarrative dissonance is mostly not real.
Narrative designers have known this for years and frequently use live theater conceits, especially with environmental storytelling and cross-disciplinary collaboration with other facets of design. Have you seen Sleep No More? It's basically a game.
