We played our annual parking lot basketball game at work with some full-time staff and the summer interns today and while we were playing it began to downpour. But everyone agreed to keep going and it was honestly pretty fun just playing in the rain like a kid again?

Niche sports post but I'm a huge fan of both the Detroit Tigers and San Diego Padres and the news of the Tigers sending the best pitcher on the planet to the Padres' archrival is sickening. I hate the Dodgers so much. MLB is a stupid league.

Interesting look at the middle grade book market, speaking to something I felt but didn't have the full context for, re: length of books. I'll add: you know what was firmly MG and like, kinda popular? Goosebumps. You know how long those were? 15-20k words. It's why my MG books are that length.

Earlier I was discussing the current state of middle grade book publishing with an author I represent, and I mentioned this Substack by @vickyweberbooks.bsky.social that offers a lot of insight into what is currently happening with that market: vickyweberbooks.substack.com/p/middle-gra...

Spent the week doing a virtual conference for my day job and what a disheartening experience to see the entire GIS industry absolutely fall over backwards for AI. It's fucking everywhere I turn in my work now. Just, fuck off, man

Farewell to singular cinema legend Sam Neill. The dynamic, soft-spoken intensity of his work remains unmatched over a five-decade career. His vast contributions to horror and science fiction will live forever, as will his memory in our hearts. Fango sends our condolences to his loved ones and fans.

Accidentally scared the crap out of my kid by showing him a (tame) clip from JAWS but forgetting to turn it off before the dude in the lagoon gets attacked and his leg bitten off. His face when the leg sunk to the bottom, man. And just before bed, too. Good work, me 👍

Love to hear this 🖤 You CAN judge a book by its cover if it’s one of my covers because I work on really cool books

Stopped at a local bookstore with no intent to buy anything (ha!) and happened across two books facing out that clearly had the incredible work of @egallagher.bsky.social on their covers. I confirmed my assumption on the copyright pages then bought them both lol. Great covers sell, people!
