I write things, I run games, but mostly I spend too much time on the Internet.

My friends @tftbd.bsky.social heard about D&D in a Castle and decided to do it Los Angeles style. Magnificent conclusion to the Rise of Tiamat campaign we’ve been playing for over two years. Sixteen players. Three DMs. A dozen NPCs. Concluding in an epic fight in a volcano/dragon boneyard.

A bizarre, six-storey castle-like home in the Hollywood Hills, with faux-portcullis garage door, multiple turrets, crenellations, a conservatory, and more. It’s kinda hard to describe. Someone said it was like if Howl’s Moving Castle sat down. A 6’x10’ battlemap of a volcanic caldera with a chasm containing a dracolich. The battlefield is dominated by a five-sided temple with green, white, red, purple, and blue light streaming into a central tower even spikier and more evil looking than its radial buildings. The battlefield is strewn with boulders and dragon bones represented by painted foam and acid-treated chicken bones. Multiple large chromatic dragons lurk around the battlefield.A gigantic model of Tiamat with a three foot wingspan looms menacingly over the battlefield, having destroyed the central tower of her temple. Alex sits in a Taskmaster-like black leather throne flanked by tall electric candelabras.
