There is a player on the LA Queens, Brittany Apgar, who has a limb difference and traveled back to Illinois from receiving her first ever batting prosthetic *today* and is 3-for-3 in her first game playing with one. Incredibly cool.

In other Michigan news, the state looks set to elect it's first transgender lawmaker. Joanna Whaley won her Democratic primary and will compete in November for a state house seat, beating a primary opponent who tried and failed to disqualify her for not running under her deadname

Hey all. Eastern Oregon/Idaho border is burning up. Boise foothills have lost a lot of homes. It’s really ugly out there right now and no resources. Might lose a lot of the small towns to this year’s fires. 💔

Good news: For the first time in seven years, Haystack Rock on the Oregon coast has an oystercatcher that has fledged and stands a good chance of becoming an adult. New hope after last year's chick died of stress after someone illegally pointed a laser at the rock over the summer.

The diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour.
