Would be a shame if a bunch of authors were to pull out due to having some principles, idk
Well I was going to go to the Oxford Literary Festival. But you know what, I don't think I'll bother.

The funniest thing to me - a British person educated in Britain - about the Odyssey nonsense apparently erupting over on Twitter, is that when I needed a classic story to include in my most recent book, I went with the Odyssey because "Everyone knows it." Everyone but that one guy, it seems.
Every year I write a short story connected to my Vicar Man series of books and post it on my blog as a Winter Holiday gift to everyone. Here's this year's: weylund.wixsite.com/my-site/post... #BookSky #ShortStory
A Gift To Keep Out The Cold
As is by now traditional, the story I have for you this year is not the story I had planned to write. That one will have to wait on the shelf, beside all the other stories that I've put aside to wait ...

Where Did I Go?
Every time I resolve to write on this blog more often, I end up not writing on it for at least a month.Or, in this case, several months. At this point I should probably accept the inevitable and stop m...

And today the hard-working writer is… Looking up the etymology of the word “mook” and not getting very far.
Beloved Husband: "Why are the curtains drawn? Let's get some light in here!" Me: "Because it's *Twenty seven degrees celsius* out there." He: "No, it's sixteen, look!" *Waves shiny new phone* Me: "Look again." He: "Ok, now it's twenty." *Moves toward window" (1/2)
Youngest child, glaring at my tea store: "Why do you like this? It's hot leaf juice!" Me: "I think you'll find it's hot *root* juice. And that one's hot flower juice." YC: "..." Me: "And today's lesson: why you should come up with your own insults instead of just borrowing other people's."
Libraries are one of the most radical social institutions we have, because they’re based on the idea that *everyone* has the right to information, for free. It’s also what makes them crucial to democracy. I will never stop yelling about this!
Poor people use libraries. Rich people shut them down because they don't *want* poor people to read.
Hold on... If The Wolf-Finder General is out tomorrow... There's only one day left to get The Vicar Man for ninety nine pence! Run! Run! ( Figuratively speaking, that is) amazon.co.uk/Vicar-Man-Am... #book #cheapbook

New blog post! A werewolf-finder is a silly idea. That could never happen in real life. Right? #TheWolfFinderGeneral www.ameliacrowley.com/post/why-a-w...
Why a Wolf-Finder?
Witch hunts make sense The kind of sense, admittedly, that starts from people being generally awful, then passes through several layers of spite, xenophobia, human greed and othering before it ends up...

Eldest Daughter just clapped her hand to her brow in an expression of tragedy. But things were apparently *so very tragic* that she felt the need to use both hands. She ended up with woeful bunny-ears.
Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate it. Cheap chocolate/a total lack of temptation (and cheap chocolate after sunset) to everyone else.
The Wolf-Finder General has a cover. And it is *beautiful*. www.ameliacrowley.com/post/the-wol... #book #writing
Somewhat crossly, to Youngest Child: "Don't just leave those bags on the floor! Come down and put them away nicely! Oh, I am setting you so much maths!" Pause. *Hitting the "print" button*: "I realise now that that's a reward and not a threat, however I am doing it anyway."
Youngest Child: "If you were in an anime, what would the title be?" "My Nuisance Child Keeps Bothering Me While I'm Trying To Write This Book. Occasionally the characters in the book would come to life and demand to know why I wasn't getting on with their story." "That actually sounds like fun."
Fuck this hustle-culture bullshit. When I’m a skeleton I’m not doing a goddamn thing
Happy Valentine's Day* wix.to/V7iL54c #newblogpost With thanks and apologies to Jasper Fforde. *Or happy Keep Your Head Down And Survive It Day. Whatever suits you best.
I know that we're not supposed to be importing anything from The Other Place, but this is a masterwork that deserves universal acclaim.
The sauna I have sauna-ed, the jacuzzi j’accuse-d, the spa itself thoroughly spa-d, and as for the tea: just look at this thing! (I’m tempted to lead a communist uprising against myself: not a plutocrat, perhaps, but decidedly bloated)
Today I have a spa day. I’m filled with trepidation but, as you can see, I’ve packed all the really important things.
In our family this is considered normal.
I hadn't thought about it before, but there's really no better description of the elapsed time since I first became a parent than that it's now my *Eldest Daughter* frantically asking "What happened here? Where's the other boot?" While *I* calmly* reply "On an adventure." *Ok, more deadpan, really
