I was thinking about this regarding that self-righteous evangelical TikToker who was proselytizing on airplanes. She got kicked off a flight recently, which is the right call, but also the cynical part of me was like "welp, guess this is the start of her lucrative right-wing media career."

This is the play in every single industry at the moment. A massive bailout for mediocre white underachievers .

It's pretty infuriating that Trump is denying disaster aid to Oregon for political reasons and I have barely heard anything about it, while Biden was falsely accused of doing the exact same thing to North Carolina and millions of people believed that

My normie Democrat mom thinks it's terrible how much the Seattle Times etc is crusading against Wilson. As with the legacy media and Democratic establishment writ large, it's crazy how much the old guard is misreading the support for younger DSA types among ordinary Democrats.

This whole thread. The Times, the TV reporters, and the Council are understating public support for the mayor, are overstating support for their anti-Wilson cause, and are dangerously encouraging insubordination in the ranks.

FYI there is no "real" reason why Rome "fell." Its power waned for the usual, mundane reasons: widening gap between rich and poor, inability to maintain infrastructure, incompetent leadership, pointless wars, endless persecution of marginalized groups who performed vital labor, etc.

Who gets to rehab their image and who doesn't? Who still gets platformed when a campaign collapses? Anyway, I'm not listening to Ezra Klein today. Instead I'm reading about Genevieve McDonald. Lobster boat captain. Former State Rep. A straight shooter. Gee, why was SHE never recruited for Senate?

Meet Genevieve McDonald, the former Graham Platner staffer who keeps criticizing him

Critics say she's a turncoat. Friends say she's just speaking her mind.

For the love of all that is good in the world, please let no corporation make a Sexy Jimothy costume for Halloween this year. I don’t care if there are Jimothy costumes in general, but there is no need to repeat the Sexy Pizza Rat situation.

I've got updated projections for Texas legislative districts -- they are a bit less sanguine than the ones I posted in June! Mostly this is due to the dropoff in how Dems are doing in the generic Congressional polling, which is a factor in this model's estimate of what kind of wave year it'll be.

A graph showing a bell curve of possibilities for the Texas State House in the 2026 elections, as predicted by Pantheon Analytics. The center of the bell curve shows Democrats getting to 68 seats out of the 150-seat chamber, which would be an six-seat pickup from the current partisan breakdown.
