It’s tough to get a good view of this hillside across from where i live, but it’s always worth trying. Every year it has the best reds.

A glimpse of a hillside covered in trees with fall red foliage. The foreground is trees with leaves that are starting to yellow, creating a sort of lime-green color. A zoomed close-up of the last photo, with the red-leaved hillside taking up most of the shot. It’s a little blurry due to the zoom.

I’m pretty tired of people who live in the US with their “Why aren’t millions of Americans out in the streets protesting,” takes. Why don’t you start, poster, by asking yourself why YOU aren’t out in the streets and maybe you’ll be closer to an answer.

We aren’t “hallucinating intolerable inflation.” We are, in the real, actual world - at the grocery store, when paying our bills - experiencing intolerable and unsustainable price pressure on necessities like food, energy, and health insurance/health care.

This is insane. Inflation is under 4%. We’ve genuinely created a monster here: a public that hallucinates intolerable inflation no matter what the actual figures are. It is a bullet to the head of the entire progressive project *and progressives can’t even be made to care.*

It’s unfortunate my brain works this way, but it’s like a pebble in my shoe that the Strait of Hormuz is not literally straight. I propose the Elbow of Hormuz.

I got a call from a specialist’s office today to book an appointment for my 86 yo dad in response to a referral from his primary that was made in May 2024. Sept 2026 was their first opening since then for a new patient 😑

WTF is wrong with the lawyers and judges who willingly participate in this evil shit? When Trump is finally gone, there need to be serious consequences for all the people who are perpetrating this horror in the name of the US. It’s disgusting beyond belief.

A 1-year-old baby appeared in immigration court without legal representation this week in Arizona and received an instruction: File an asylum application before the next hearing or face deportation. https://www.notus.org/immigration/baby-asylum-hearing

I was in a pretty bad car accident a little over a week ago. Other driver’s fault (16 yo kid; bad judgment call, pulled into an intersection in front of me when i was going 40mph). Both cars totaled. I was headed home, a mile away. 1/x

Long list of things Meta is required to do in this worthy decision. Question: are those things in addition to the $950+ million in penalties they pay to NM? Or does the penalty money pay for those specific things?

LaMeep@lameep.bsky.social · 2mo ago

Meta ordered to make significant changes to protect minors on its platforms and payout $942 million to New Mexico. There are 42 states involved in this lawsuit. More to follow on those other states reparations by Meta. youtu.be/L7ogqP1f5VA?...

V2 has fledged 🦅🤍 9:44am An adult came in with a fish a while later and looked high and low for the eaglet before flying off 10 minutes later. The nest and nest tree are still empty now. Big day.

Researchers in Vermont infected 5,300 of the trees with a lethal dose of Dutch elm disease in hopes that the survivors can eventually help build a genetically diverse and disease-resistant population. So far, the results are promising.

A thing I don’t get about housekeeping is dusting. How in the world does anyone keep up with the dusting? It feels like it would be a half-time job.

V-2 was exercised his wings a lot and was airborne from branch to branch several times early this morning, and then got two fish deliveries within a couple of minutes of each other - one from each parent, I think. We also got a special close up view for a while. #VINS

A very close up view of a dark brown eagle in a branchy nest, leaning over a fish s/he is tearing apart and eating.

V-2 is completely off-camera and has been for about 5 minutes. It’s the first time i’ve seen that. He flapping his wings a lot and then in the branches above the nest to the right for a while, and you could still see his shadow on the tree trunk, but then he completely disappeared! 🦅

A view of the empty VINS bald eagle nest in evening light. The pond and the hillside in the background are golden.
