On the recommendations of the Faculty of Horror, I watched Marina de Van's 'In My Skin'. Wowzers..... what a film. It has imperfect women! Useless boyfriends! Grotesque body horror! The crushing weight of surveillance and control of female bodies! French arthouse goodness! What's not to love?

My wish for today is that you write something with your human brain. I don't care if it's a grocery list, an email, a letter to your cat or a poem about cookies. Writing is so uniquely human and magical and it should be celebrated.

Maybe you're getting tired of the 'grief is the monster' trope in horror, but have you seen these ones? They put an interesting spin on things and still pack a punch. - Censor. - As Above, So Below. - Relic. - Lake Mungo.

Niamh Algar in 'Censor'Paris catacombs, 'As Above So Below'Three generations of women struggling with loss, 'Relic'.The tragic story of Alice Palmer in 'Lake Mungo'.

Client: 'it's hard to talk about mental health. I don't see other men struggling with loss or loneliness or trauma.' Me, a therapist: 'I wonder if it would be helpful to see others going through similar experiences, to help us talk about how it feels for you?'

Benson and Bradley in 'The Passenger'.Luke and 'Daniel', in 'Daniel isn't Real'.Wyatt, Mara and Christian share a joyful moment in 'They Look Like People'.Luke from 'The Haunting of Hill House'.

Today's tip from a therapist: when you are facing a long 'to do' list, you don't have to do everything. Just focus on one, small task that you have been putting off. For example, popping your Punch costume into the dry cleaners rather than leaving it to fester until next May.

Det. Howie dressed as The Fool (in a punch costume), ready for his appointment with the Wicker Man.

Client: 'I'm sick of dating, it's just a succession of horrendous experiences. No one seems to understand how bad it is'. Me, a professional therapist: 'Hmm. May I recommend some cathartic watching....?'

Erin from 'You're Next', holding an axe against her boyfriend's murderous family.Nikki, a possessed, unhinged romantic from 'Obsession'.Lola, murderous wannabe prom queen from 'The Loved Ones'.Liz and her creepy too-good-to-be-true boyfriend from 'Keeper'.

Why is 'Shelby Oaks' three separate films stitched together? I'm pretty good at following film narratives and I adore found footage but I have no idea what the heck is going on.

A blurry image of a woman with dark eyes smiling at the camera, reminiscent of Laura Palmer in 'Twin Peaks'.

I don't want to talk about 'The Boys' season 5, they did my sweet boy Frenchie dirty. And Kimiko? Why give such a badass character a voice if you then strip away all that made her awesome?

Gorgeous wrong 'un Frenchie carries a tired Kimiko, because they are special angel fish that deserved protecting at all costs.
