Thought I'd start my day with a silly little horror film and accidentally watched 'Clickbait' ('American Sweatshop' US title). Good grief. What an unassumingly brutal film. That's the day ruined. #notwithmycheerios
The pup cups at Saughton Park cafe (E'burgh) are WILD. Darcy's review, 10/10. And only £1.50!
I may be biased, but my dog is the most beautiful creature that ever existed.
Wowzers. If 'I Had Legs I'd Kick You' might be my favourite film of the year - what a bonkers and bittersweet ride. I think therapists and women on the edge will particularly enjoy it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywFD...

On the recommendations of the Faculty of Horror, I watched Marina de Van's 'In My Skin'. Wowzers..... what a film. It has imperfect women! Useless boyfriends! Grotesque body horror! The crushing weight of surveillance and control of female bodies! French arthouse goodness! What's not to love?
Drop a crush from your youth! River Phoenix, what a sweet energy. Poor soul 🖤
River Phoenix: Not If I See You First
Alt: River Phoenix as Chris Chambers, saying 'not if I see you first' (his last line from 'Stand By Me').

My wish for today is that you write something with your human brain. I don't care if it's a grocery list, an email, a letter to your cat or a poem about cookies. Writing is so uniquely human and magical and it should be celebrated.
CBT therapists, this is on Friday! Come along for a friendly and informative chat about all things menopause.
My first ever Insta reel (yes, I am ancient). Be generous and come to my Edinburgh show x bit.ly/42jWs1m
Maybe you're getting tired of the 'grief is the monster' trope in horror, but have you seen these ones? They put an interesting spin on things and still pack a punch. - Censor. - As Above, So Below. - Relic. - Lake Mungo.
As a former nu-metal/emo kid, I still have a tendency to be snarky and dismissive of pop culture, but is there a more beautiful song for summer than 'Venice Bitch'? www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qg3D...

Believe it or not, I am doing a Fringe show! On horror films as therapy! 🖤 I'll be talking about the genre and why horror films can be more therapeutic than professional help, even the really nasty ones... 15 & 24 August @The Stand Tickets here: bit.ly/42jWs1m Come and say hi!

Client: 'it's hard to talk about mental health. I don't see other men struggling with loss or loneliness or trauma.' Me, a therapist: 'I wonder if it would be helpful to see others going through similar experiences, to help us talk about how it feels for you?'

Today's tip from a therapist: when you are facing a long 'to do' list, you don't have to do everything. Just focus on one, small task that you have been putting off. For example, popping your Punch costume into the dry cleaners rather than leaving it to fester until next May.
Client: 'I'm sick of dating, it's just a succession of horrendous experiences. No one seems to understand how bad it is'. Me, a professional therapist: 'Hmm. May I recommend some cathartic watching....?'
Why is 'Shelby Oaks' three separate films stitched together? I'm pretty good at following film narratives and I adore found footage but I have no idea what the heck is going on.
A child free from the guilt of ownership and the burden of economic competition will grow up with the will to do what needs doing and the capacity for joy in doing it.
As Samir describes their story "Aberration," "A chronically ill person and a chronically ill house are a bad combination." Read it for free in ergot, and if you dig it, read over a dozen other Samir Sirk Morató stories in Gore Poetics. www.ergot.press/authors/Sami...

I don't want to talk about 'The Boys' season 5, they did my sweet boy Frenchie dirty. And Kimiko? Why give such a badass character a voice if you then strip away all that made her awesome?
'Obsession' is INTENSE and has one of the best jump-scares I have seen in decades. Inde Navarrette deserves all the acolades for her performance.
Finally got to see Skunk Anansie and Alanis Morisette live and I am CHANGED.
