Decided to not have a bio and just say "read this" as it will be a better guide if you're trying to decide whether I'm worth bothering with: https://www.tom-cox.com/the-village-message-board-2/

tom i started reading this book this morning and im living the way you are slowly revealing the nature of one the protagonists. keeping it vague here for obvious reasons. can’t wait to go to bed to get back into it.

Almost every day, someone tells me this is their desert island book or their favourite book of the year or that they're on the their 2nd read of it but there is still a feeling that it is not enough. I feel done with promoting it now but I thought I'd give one more copy away before drawing the line

My latest novel Everything Will Swallow You, now out in paperback. You might like it if you like any of the following:
Knitting. Crocheting. Old records (and other old dusty things). An unexpected queer love story. Folklore. The sea. Walking. A hyper-intelligent semi-aquatic cryptid. Abandoned buildings. Community. Silliness. Crows.

I've never heard that before, appropriate👍. There was the Peasedown Scarecrow: on the sides of a stack of baled hay wrapped in black plastic, a farmer had painted 'FUCK OFF CROWS'.

It's a thing in our house now, since I read 21st-Century Yokel. We always refer to them as 'Witches Knickers' when we see them fluttering and flapping in the wind.

The other Beach Boys are feeding the goats. Mike Love, however, is suspicious of the goats. Mikes got some treats in his pockets, which he *could* give the goats, but, because he’s greedy and likes Mike Love far more than he could ever like goats, he’s decided to keep the treats for himself.

The cover of my first pressing (stereo, UK) of Pet Sounds. I have since sold this record. Shocking, I know. It's a classic. It did a lot to change the face of popular music. But it's always been a record I admire rather than love. It's never got its hooks into me like 'Revolver' or 'Rubber Soul' does, and I get much more enjoyment out of later Beach Boys LPs such as 'Holland' and 'Carl And The Passions'. So, being brutal, and honest about my listening habits, I decided it had to go. Hopefully someone else who connects with it in a way I never did is really enjoying it.
