Hills I will die on: 1. Skipping whole lines between every sentence in newsletters doesn’t make it easy to skim or give the message gravitas or whatever. It just feels like having a kid’s book read to me very slowly. 2. There is no brand I need in my inbox every day. Not one.

Earlier this month I was in a room with several VCs and other finance people talking about how I believe creatives struggling to launch their projects can borrow a lot (though not all of it to be sure) from the way tech startups approach the funding ecosystem.

If you read just a few comments on any article about Graham Platner it should become crystal clear why victims don’t come forward earlier. The level of cruelty people direct at victims is gutting

I try to be conscious of not sending people email way outside of biz hours but I’m in project conversations w folks in two EU time zones and in all North Amer time zones but one so at this point I’m just changing my email sig to “answer whenever the fuck you work” in like six languages

Gahhd, search is so awful now. Was trying to locate a specific essay about trauma and resilience and forgot to add the “-ai” modifier at the end of the search query and the results began: “As an ai, I don’t have feelings but perhaps you are looking for [crap unrelated to what I was looking for].

This “comment WORD for recipe so a bot can send it and you can be on my not-terribly substantive sales mailing list” is exhausting. I cook by feel/taste more than recipe but I cook daily and GLADLY share or swap recipes w anyone at any time bc it’s fun to share delicious things with nice people.

Here’s my thing: I do not give a fuck how famous/powerful/connected anyone is if they can’t manage to be a decently kind person. Like, great, dude, you have so-and-so’s name in your phone, you’re still condescending. Man, I have no patience for that game.

You know, not every class needs to be (or frankly qualifies as) a masterclass. It can just be a class or a webinar or whatever. Just like not every speech is a keynote bc by definition a keynote sets the theme a conference or event and there’s only one of them, usually right at the start. It’s okay.

I’m noticing some folks are starting to *talk* like AI (“It’s not THIS. It’s not THIS. It’s THIS.”) and makes me fear they’ve outsourced some of the best parts of their minds. Just say the thing. The “not this” throat-clearing bullshit preamble sucks and dilutes your fucking point.

Root canal ✅ Woof. Heavy painkillers are not for me so I’m riding it out with ibuprofen. Please shower me with photos of your beautiful pets and visiting bird friends. Thank you in advance.

Humans are like “we needed this” and it’s just watching smart and kind humans in space and on the ground at their best, doing awe-inspiring, history-making work and showing humanity and care to each other and making us all ugly-cry and not think about the horrors here on earth for a moment, nbd.

FFS, I saw a video in which an influencer shared the “amazing smoothie hack” of storing peeled bananas in Tupperware to save yourself the time of peeling a goddamned banana.
