It has been a month and I am still deeply unimpressed by Interstellar. It feels like science fiction for people who have never read or watched any science fiction.
NEW EPISODE: Science Fiction and Arthur Conan Doyle, with Anastasia Klimchynskaya. @anaklimchy.bsky.social joins us to talk about: humanity's progress and insignificance; scifi and gothic; the significance of The Lost World; magic versus science, and much more. bit.ly/DOD74sn bit.ly/DODoyle
THE SOLAR ECLIPSE SEEN FROM THE MOON BY ARTEMIS II!!! THEY WERE THE FIRST HUMANS TO HAVE THIS VIEW!!
Some annotation on the original image
I finally watched Interstellar. Maybe I wasn't in the right headspace, but I was not impressed.
Thrilled to share this piece of mine from The Conversation. theconversation.com/artemis-ii-m...
Artemis II moonshot reflects a spacefaring vision present in Jules Verne’s 19th-century novel
Going to the Moon isn’t just about science. Novelist Jules Verne predicted some of the societal ramifications modern lunar missions are creating today.

If you're hype about Artemis, there's a new, annotated version of Jules Verne's truly batshit speculation about what would get humans to the moon, edited by @anaklimchy.bsky.social with essays and annotation by me, @samitbasu.bsky.social, and more!

Essays by Samit Basu, Jordan Bimm, Erika Nesvold, Adam Oyebanji, Malka Older, Adam Roberts, and Asif Siddigi" [the graphics on this are pretty low-key: a side-bar with a pale moon and stars image, and the cover of the book which is basically the title and two circles representing Earth and Moon in white on a dark background]](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:sqhk2ksk2hgrgf7tfdztchls/bafkreif6fg2s5wylrrvci53vrlxynziu4p4taxujpa2hiwast7b7grtkam)
