There's always a non-negligible number of folks that go from SDCC to GenCon. I hate to break it to you, but COVID is still a thing, conventions are still super spreaders, and you should still test and wear masks if you care about community at all!

We embarked upon an odyssey (a 1.5 hour transit) and now we're about to see The Odyssey in 70mm!

I find the "rules are toys" framing of TTRPG design useful for several reasons: 1. The idea that system matters is reducible to recognising that toys have affordances; while there's no "wrong" way to play with a toy, no amount of open-mindedness will readily fit a bicycle through a basketball hoop.

Got a new bookshelf to hold the comp copies of games I've worked on, and it's been a really nice reminder of all the cool things I've been able to do! But also holy shit what do you mean I've worked on enough stuff to almost fill 2 shelves and that's only things that gave me physical comp copies
