Been reflecting on my new years resolution progress as we're past the midpoint and heading into autumn, and lol nope.

I need to find a club that plays stuff like the new King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard album m.youtube.com/watch?v=EEph...

kräftskiva! Does this mean I have successfully integrated? 😅
Prepping ideas for my next ttrpg session, and I think this'll be a good one: ancient temples to forgotten gods deep in the jungle, fragments of a conquistador's journal, legend of the horrors they awakened, traps and slow-acting poisons, an expedition falling apart each step of the way.
A fun technique for pve encounter design and storytelling is to think as if it's pvp. The enemies aren't just obstacle in the way, aimlessly wandering; they have objectives they are trying to achieve, and it's the player who is in *their* way.
Really happy to see the Quake community has pieced together a coherent narrative from all the little breadcrumbs in this new expansion. Happier still to hear that there some emotional resonance with the vibes ❤️
not sure if it's a spoiler or not so will be vague, but my thoughts on the latest Quake expansion is that I wanted to cry when I found someone slumped against a wall next to a box of ammo, and he told me "take this, i don't need it anymore" and i felt that in my bones and i wanted to hug him so much
Only able to express myself through increasingly elaborate easter eggs.
I almost named my latest Quake map "What if we kissed beneath the flying buttress", but I didn't, because I'm a coward 😂😔
Having ideas about making more work for myself ha ha. Too many things I want to do, and not enough time :(
More Indiana Jones last night. Exploring the Vatican city is extremely rewarding. Now I'm staring at every candle holder and statue to find secret areas :D Playing it as a stealth game at the moment so I have no idea how the combat is. I threw a spade at someone and they fell unconscious. 11/10
Yesterday I dove into the game rules of Warhammer 40k. There's some cool design going on there: Objective-based play, a objective asymmetry, is a really interesting design space, especially for how it combines with nonlinear arenas.
Call of Cthulhu tonight was fun. God it's hard to fit a full, satisfying session in under 2 hours though.
Running some Call of Cthulhu tonight. The scenario: a millionaire hosts a seance for his birthday party, what could go wrong?
At a café they're playing a 60s song where the lyrics repeat "over and over" as it becomes increasingly distorted as it repeats. Good horror vibes. Waiting for someone to ask if I read Sutter Cane.
Been enjoying seeing the community slowly tease apart the layers of secrets for this new episode. There's at least 1 secret I haven't seen anyone find yet ❤️
The Wire, but there is a slowly growing Lovecraftian horror devouring reality over the course of 5 seasons.
what a week. Was one of my bestie's birthdays on wednesday, then Quakecon yesterday. Maybe I'll go dancing tonight to cap it off😆🥳
Looking forward to running some Call of Cthulhu next week. Also looking forward to the new Zach Cregger film in September. Slowly shifting into spooky season vibes, but not ready to let go of summer yet.
Highly recommend making memes for friends. Life is better with dumb in-jokes 😘
