I lived in Seattle juuuuust long enough that I can confirm this. That said, one of the reasons I generally stopped carrying an umbrella (besides COVID lockdowns) was because it didn't truly RAIN. It was just ambiently wet. Nothing was really falling in a way that an umbrella would block.
Zack Davisson@zackdavisson.com · 2w agoIt is a quirk of Seattle people that we do not use umbrellas. It can pour rain on us and we'll just put up our hoods. Its our way of showing that the rain does not bother us. You can always tell tourists or transplants in Seattle--they use umbrellas.
