Noah’s class is in a braiding craze. But he has nothing to braid. His teacher gives him some strips of cloth & it begins. All the students bring in cloth; they braid until they have enough for a rug. The illustrations are perfect for the story, with lots of colour, movement, & detail. #Kidlit 📚👍🏼

ALA is heartbroken at the passing of country music legend and literacy champion Dolly Parton. Her Imagination Library initiative, inspired by her father's inability to read or write, has put millions of books into children's hands and was considered by her to be among her greatest achievements.

What a delightful wordless book about snow. Snowflakes as Beekle-shaped marshmallow ghosties have a lot of fun in this lovely illustrated story. The snow falls on a city, and we see these little creatures and their antics through the night. It’s a beautiful addition to library shelves. #kidlit 📚👍🏼

This is the kind of book from a small publisher outside the US that we need in libraries. Gorgeous, finely detailed pencil drawings settle the mind while you breathe & absorb the soft message, Absolutely stunning. There are words, but only a few, to remind us that quiet can speak volumes. #kidlit 📚👍🏼

Alia’s grandad tells the most amazing stories. One day he is gone & she misses the stories. On the Bookship she finds more stories, ones that she can share. Written in rhyme, which is occasionally a little hard to scan, this is a sweet story, with beautifully imaginative illustrations. #kidlit

This is a glorious book. The pacing is perfect for young readers, and Oliver’s words ring so bright with this art. Teachers, if you do a poetry unit (and you should), you NEED this book. It will also work well in storytime. I’m enamoured by this poetic field guide to birds and thistles. #kidlit 📚👍🏼

Americans thinking Canadian wildfire smoke shouldn’t affect them and Canadians thinking FDA cuts won’t affect our food supply. We’re all on this continent together, buckos. Smoke, parasites and viruses don’t care about borders.

Written as a reminder, especially to Indigenous children, that the land and people are all connected. Though gentle, it contains the history of Indigenous children being taken from their homes, so adults sharing with children should be ready for discussion. Canadian libraries, take note. #kidlit
