Maybe it’s a sign of being old or that there are lots of generic pop stars but I’m amused that Tate McRae headlined Lollapalooza and many of us are like is that the Canadian who wants to be American whose songs I can’t identify at all?

This is the summer of storms in Edmonton that’s wrecking festivals, sports and concerts but I’m especially sad for Heritage Festival having a tough time as they already had to cancel a full day two years ago from storm damage, and so many awesome newcomer orgs are involved.

This book is fascinating, depressing, infuriating and as Latifi says, indicative of late stage capitalism where everything is commodity so trading privacy for economic stability is understandable. There are some happy stories, but far more loneliness, insecurity and exploitation.

Library workers aren’t funded well enough to be superheroes and some are more conservative than you might think but right now, in the dumpster fire year of our fascist lord 2026, I’m so proud of the great work some library workers are doing to resist book banning and AI.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time.
