This is absolutely correct AND teachers are bombarded with the message that if a parent's child does not like school or finds it boring, it's a problem for the teacher to fix. It so often seems that the real challenge at hand is convincing parents their child is a child; nothing more, nothing less.

I say this extremely seriously: one of the main skills children have to learn to be adults is to do things they *don't* find interesting. This is both because many necessary things in life are boring and because sometimes interesting things take time and effort first.

One of my (semi) hot takes is that most AI hacking can be avoided by better learning design. The assessments & practices shared here aren’t reactionary countermeasures, they’re fantastic examples of teaching built on the 5Es of sensemaking (i.e. the principles that make human cognition unique).
