If the heat bothers you, plant a tree. If the rain bothers you, plant a tree. If you like fruit, plant a tree. If you like birds, plant a tree. And if you like life, plant a tree.

It was Count Binface’s best-ever result at a parliamentary election.
We are bankrupting our young people and saddling them with mountains of debt even before life has opened up to them. Wealthy families will pay it off. Most will have this financial albatross round their necks for years.
UK students to pay up to 7.1% interest on loans. UK student debt £325bn, England £295bn; expected to hit £500bn by 2040s. Who can afford to afford to buy home, start family/business? England must copy Scotland, abolish university tuition fees. Write-off tuition debt.

Immigrants & asylum seekers are not our enemies. They are not responsible for the austerity, privatisation, erosion of civic life, thinning of democracy and concentration of power we suffer. But they're being punished for these things. Punished at the behest of the very people who *are* responsible.

Crucial discussion by @rewildingbritain.org.uk of how nature conservation in the UK needs to change. It is currently locked into rigid criteria and fixed endpoints - an approach entirely alien to how ecosystems work. But there are better ways. www.rewildingbritain.org.uk/blog/the-wil...
The Wild View: Time to move beyond the 'museum model' of conservation
In her second Wild View opinion piece, Rewilding Britain Chief Exec Rebecca Wrigley calls for a radical modernisation of the way we protect our landscapes.

Just discovered courtesy of the Daily Telegraph marriage announcements page back in January that one of Rupert Lowe's children is marrying ... an immigrant... this summer. Curiously he's keeping very quiet about it.

I hadn't seen this before. This is pretty remarkable. Earth and Moon in one NASA photo. ht @astrokatie.com
Yesterday I did a thing. I joined 500,000 people on the streets of London to march against hate and for a more equal society. When 1% of the world's population has 99% of the wealth, is it any wonder why we live in an unequal world? People matter. The planet matters. Social justice matters.

15 years ago today I arrived on Downing Street in a cage. I've seen off Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and Sunak and I'm still going strong. Only two Prime Ministers have ever done longer stints here: William Pitt the Younger and Sir Robert Walpole. Bill and Bob - I'm coming for you... (Photos AP)
Don’t label a generation lazy because they’re not willing to make the same sacrifices you did. Refusing to jeopardize your well-being for your boss is not an act of disrespect. It’s an expression of self-respect.
If you reach a goal by compromising your values, you haven’t succeeded. If you fall short of a goal by upholding your values, you haven’t failed. The highest form of accomplishment is standing by your principles when they’re tested.

Burnout is an occupational disease. A natural response to too much happening with too little support. It is not a medical diagnosis, but if nothing is done about it, it can often lead to one. We can avoid burnout by changing the system we are in. We do not avoid burnout by changing ourselves.
