This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead

If the GenAI industry and tech only "works" because it's based on massive exploitation of labour and intellectual property then you don't have an industry, you just made another form of slavery.

I like @joshstrifehayes.bsky.social but I cannot tolerate this wishy washy around the use of GenAI. There is no clear statement if he uses the stuff or not. Fix the massive copyright infringement and exploitation of GenAI first. Then we discuss where and how to use it.

Managed to hunt down two photos of the kitbashed model built by Jim Bowers as reference for the original WipEout game, sometime around 1993 or 1994. You can see the logos on it are harvested from other kits- Toyota and Buick logos, USAF roundels, and more that I'm sure someone else could ID

That @nexusmods.com is unwilling to enforce any anti-AI stance makes me just never want to support them. They cannot even be pushed to mark mods made with AI. It's Artstation all over again. Just keep quiet, don't annoy the clankers. Don't make us loose modders and users. Don't enforce copyright.
