Me: do these pants I got make my butt look big Partner: … Me: like look big in the “bad” way Partner: no Me: …do these pants make my butt look big in the good way Partner: yes *nodding excitedly*

I was filling out a new patient form and accidentally submitted it with only this in the “Please list current stressors in your life” input Meant to add more but you know what I think this captures it well enough

Online form with field for “Please list current stressors in your life” input, inside it Anna entered “I work in tech” and nothing else

I found this episode very validating in terms of my experiences working in tech. Nik Suresh said the same thing about AI as I did in my own writing: no previous era in tech has punished people for skepticism like we’ve been with AI.

Here's this week's Better Offline - I'm joined by Nik Suresh to talk about how AI mania is eviscerating global decision-making, creating a culture of fear that demands workers lie about the benefits of AI to coddle Business Idiots. youtu.be/OrKSaVDu8nM?... linktr.ee/betteroffline

LinkedIn is always offering me this type of content now: “Over the last few months, I've personally shipped 36 PRs and contributed 43K+ lines of code.“ - designer The question I would like to ask but won’t ask: Is the code actually any good though? Otherwise you’re just adding noise and slop

I will be vehemently opposing this with my vote here in WA. If you’re here I urge you to do the same. Taking the rights of trans people is taking away everyone’s collective bodily autonomy. This is a recipe for a generation of children left with significant trauma.

An initiative on the ballot in Washington state in November would require all athletes seeking to play girl's sports from kindergarten to high school to undergo "genetic screening, a testosterone-levels test, or an examination of their reproductive anatomy" before they can play

The Campaign to Force Genital Exams on Girl Athletes Soon Washington State could require sex-verification tests for those playing sports in schools.

I have a memory of being in undergrad sitting at my desk and bouncing my legs. Someone asked if I was okay and I was genuinely confused. They asked me why I was bouncing my legs and I said “i dunno it just feels nice” Anyways here I am in an overstimulating environment bouncing my legs still.

Partner: I’m beginning to think OpenAI is gonna get a bail out Me: yes that’s what I’ve been saying Partner: at least you can enjoy being right Me: can’t say I can this time

Me at the archery range this evening: have you ever seen Robin Hood Partner: Ye- Me: Not the human ones the confusingly attractive fox one Partner: … Me: it’s not because he’s a fox it’s just his personality Partner: … Me: anyways

I'm confusingly in the best place emotionally and mentally lately despite the *gestures at everything* I am the the "This is Fine" dog, but also, look all I can do is control my own circumstances y'all I'm gonna drink that coffee

If Nintendo thinks they can just keep remastering games I loved dearly in my youth and expect me buy them well they’ve got another thing coming to them If the other thing coming is more of my money

I’ve been reading “A Little Less Broken: How an Autism Diagnosis Finally Made Me Whole” It’s been so similar to my own experience being AFAB and undiagnosed with AuDHD I cannot recommend it enough, I’ve laughed and cried and learned so much about myself www.marianschembari.com/books

Uber Eats and DoorDash hid tip buttons and set default tips below 10%. As a result, tips for delivery workers fell 79%.  In January, we made these corporations change their apps — and in the past six months, we've put $104 million back in delivery workers' pockets.  This is only the beginning.

I cannot imagine how miserable one would have to be in life to keep working long after they could retire Looking at like every billionaire and elected official like Mitch McConnell

I can't tell you how correct Ed Zitron is about Apple being well positioned to eat. The more chaotic and agentic and scammy it gets out there, the better their gated community looks. Every other tech company capexing their way to the center of the earth, sunk in debt. Apple on a mountain of cash.
