Find another way to call people "not smart" besides the word "dumb". You often mean misinformed, or unwilling to be informed, or disinformed, and those point to systemic ways of controlling who gets what information, not a personal failing.

Took me less than a day. Inhaled those last three books. Give Kennedy Ryan all her coins and flowers. On to the NOLU!
The books have arrived, and rain is in the forecast. Gonna take this operations meeting, check in with the fam, and disappear for the next 48 hours.✌🏿

I have one more set of books to read to complete my journey through the KRLU¹ and then I'm making my way through the NOLU², and back to the TMLU³. __ ¹ Kennedy Ryan Literary Universe ² Nnedi Okorafor Literary Universe ³ Toni Morrison Literary Universe
For whoever needs to see this. . . The only people who are okay, right now are the most evil people you can think of (and other evil people you can't). If you're struggling, you're in good company.
We need a proper Black press to cover the Black web-based tech beat and highlight projects like this.

About a month ago, the sciatica got me! I THOUGHT I WAS DYING! Crazy!
I tell you one thing, after turning 40, every, single, one of my joints came to collect their birthday presents. Joints I ain't even know I had suddenly got noisy.
The violence French police are inflicting on students and protesters today is very much a descendant of colonial police violence formalized by the very same republic. That knowledge doesn't go away, as Sherrilyn Ifill reminds us again and in "14th," quoting Frederick Douglass. It is passed down.
"Though they are not featured in it, the people of Gaza are recognizable in Raoul Peck’s radical, unsparing, and wholly vital four part documentary 'Exterminate All the Brutes.'" www.rogerebert.com/features/on-...
"Michel’s great virtue is his persistence,” said Haynes Miller, an M.I.T. professor emeritus of mathematics who is close to Dr. DeGraff and who says his friend is not an antisemite. 'He doesn’t give up. If he sees an injustice he will attack it.'"

Michel DeGraff, a vocal pro-Palestinian activist, can’t be easily fired because he has tenure. But he has been kicked out of his department.

If we can do that, we will have a model for hijacking hype. Or hacking the hype. At the end of the day, as much as the overlords try to siphon our labor, we are the algorithm. None of these platforms work if we don't participate.
I have named this phenomenon, and will be publishing a series of essays on it. But, I want to see if we can run the same play on a not-thing ourselves to prove the model.
The tech hype cycle is a corporation declaring a thing that is not as if it is, the media repeating and amplifying the thing that isn't as if it is instead of naming what it is, and then the consumers repeating and amplifying the media's parroting of the thing that isn't as if it is.
I bet we can hijack one of these cycles to bring a not-thing into our material reality. What do you think?

At the risk of sounding woo-squared, we have to be very careful about the language we use and whose language we use, especially during spooky season.
Talking about Chad Williams, journalism, and community trust
We must organize to seize the better world. It will not be given to us. It must be seized by us.
I miss the mass market paperback form. These new paperbacks aren't built for handiness.
Just thinking about Ida B Wells being described in 1894 by the New York Times as a “slanderous and nasty-minded mulatress” because of her commitment to covering the social, economic and political reality of lynchings

Agreed. She truly should just be charged with trespassing and sent to a mental home as a part of her sentence while she sees the help she needs. If anything, how did she get through the schools radar of being a sub? The parent should be demanding to know how this even happened.
Anyway. We need inter-social-platform search engines to help us find each other. Something should be thinking through that already.
