the app was originally written by @pfrazee.com, had contributions from @anshnanda.com, currently maintained by @hailey.at, @esb.lol, @samuel.bsky.team and me. sometimes @pfrazee.com shoots a fix for old times sake
Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #644! Congrats to the Bluesky Team for this huge achievement!

Okay, finished wrapping this up into a library. Knocked out a bunch of additional styles and props that were not supported before and fixed up a few bugs including a character counting bug (emojis why??). Hopefully will be useful for people building with react-native. #software #reactnative

THIS has me so excited, if you're a software engineer give this paper by @martin.kleppmann.com a read!
I helped the Bluesky team write a paper explaining the underlying architecture and the reasons why it works the way it does. Releasing the paper today to celebrate that you no longer need an invite code to sign up for a Bluesky account: arxiv.org/abs/2402.03239
Hello newskies! (And oldskies too) Bluesky doesn’t have just one algorithm, it has many, and you can pick what you like (or write your own). Here’s a few I made and a few i like: Quiet Posters, posts from people you follow who don’t post that often whose posts you might normally miss
The For You feed 👥 Identifies your communities 🥰 Learns what you like 🔀 Balances post authors There's always something new 👇
One of the default feeds, For You, that users get in onboarding is built by the @skygaze.io team. While we look like a Twitter alt, under the hood, feeds and moderation services can be run by many different parties. Bluesky is social run by many people and not just one company 🦋

@ansh.bsky.team and I are practically soulmates given how often I run into him deep in the github issues
Bug Thread xkcd.com/2881
every person that posts this either isn't following people, isn't following feeds, or is just engaging for bait. i'm willing to believe the former two categories are the case more often than the latter, if not just for my sanity, because i haven't ~used~ twitter in months at this point.
What are your new year’s resolutions? I’ve never really done any. Didn’t see the point. But I kinda maybe get it now.
📢 App Version 1.62 is now rolling out This update includes a number of important bugfixes. It also includes wonderful contributions from the community by @haileyok.com and @mozzius.dev. Details in the thread! 🧵 (1/5)
Developers, quick note: We renamed the Big Graph Service (BGS) to Relay. "BGS" was always a placeholder, and Relay more clearly describes what the service does. The role and functionality of the service is not changing. Original announcement here: github.com/bluesky-soci...
RELAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
📢 1.60 is rolling out now (2/5) Posts, profiles, and user search are now available without login! You can finally share your quality posts with the group chat or in articles. If you don’t want the Bluesky app to show your posts to logged-out users, opt out in the Moderation tab.
Controlled scroll feeds would be huge
interesting custom feed idea that i think @jacob.gold shared w me yesterday: show only 10-20 posts/day that get the gist of today's discussion, so you spend 10 min scrolling instead of 4 hours. when you hit like on the posts you enjoy, the algo gets a better sense of what you want to see more of
