So Patreon has a new feature called “quipping”, which is their attempt to be a Twitter-like social media app. But the thing is, when you quip, apparently every one of your patrons gets a notification or email about it. So it’s like Twitter but what if your tweet was an email

It becomes pretty obvious in a lot of AI discussions that you have people who think of Fable 5 when they think of "AI" arguing with people who think of the time they used free ChatGPT in 2023 as "AI"

I think to save time I'm going to start opening every AI conversation with "Do you acknowledge that LLMs can work towards goals, and this is an entirely separate question from that of whether they are sentient?"

I know there was a frustration on AI BlueSky (me included), that Hank wasn't just telling these people to f*** off, but the man knows what he's doing, I don't think he could have made a better response. I think we let spite play a bigger role in our decision making than we'd like to admit sometimes.
