It’s a lot of young people raised online, well before they can understand how complicated morality really is and - importantly - before they can see that complexity in themselves. From experience, the realization that you, too, fall under a shade of grey is *crushing* if you’re used to moralizing.

The big takeaway from this whole controversy is that being a paranoid reactionary about the tech actually helps AI. Jumping to conclusions like this turns the fight against AI into a Boy Who Cried Wolf scenario where the accusations become less believable after each viral freak out.
