I'm not saying it doesn't HAPPEN, but "all weird indie TTRPGs are a kink thing" is reductive. There is also "designing RPGs to publish your worldbuilding bible", "designing RPGs because you invented a neat dice trick", "designing RPGs to win an argument", and "designing RPGs as an act of self harm".

Just so everyone's aware, both Girl Frame and A Most Bloody Devotion were designed to win specific arguments, and We Eat Roses to Grow Thorns was self-harm. Someday I'll write a game about kink, probably. Maybe.

It's basically Columbo if Columbo was set in a Chinese emperor's palace full of concubines, and Columbo was constantly poisoning himself on purpose and saying things like "that eunuch is pissing me off"

I started watching the Apothecary Diaries anime and the two lead characters are a freak aroace poison fetishist and an impossibly beautiful eunuch. Most of the side characters are gorgeous women with huge cans. Perfect show
