I hear from so many folks about how much AI they are being "encouraged" to use in the workplace and I fucking despair. I don't use that shit to do my research, I don't ask it questions about how to deal with interpersonal questions, and I don't "vibe" any task. It's not actually hard to NOT DO.

I have been sick for 2 weeks out of almost every month this year so far. Bedridden sick. This last bout was full-body hives and swelling in all my joints, and severe anemia. I have no idea what is wrong with me, but it feels like a delayed reaction to burnout. 1/3

Fucked around and got heat exhaustion on Saturday in 30 degree temperatures inside. I thought I'd be fine with lots of water and a fan. I was not. Took me two days to fully recover, and all I could do was sleep and hydrate. Was only able to eat today.

Our built world is not designed for these changing temperatures and sprawling catastrophes, and there is no plan or budget in place to address this. To make what's ahead more bearable and survivable, we will need transformative change and radical redistribution—not fucking data centers.

Nothing has scared me on an existential level quite like the opening chapter of The Ministry For the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson. Published in 2020 it describes one of the most harrowing mass death events from extreme heat I've ever encountered. It is fiction, by a slim margin.

So here's an interesting thing I'm seeing in these conversations about "Canadian wildfire smoke." Some Yanks are saying the wildfires are because Canada outlawed Indigenous traditional burning practices. This way, Canada remains the bad guy for oppressing Indigenous Peoples - which is true. 1/5

I know folks don't want to hear this...but you know how cops perpetrate a really shocking amount of domestic voilence? Whenever those discussions come up, folks fall all over themselves to praise firefighters as though they demonstrate an alternative to ACAB. Well...no.

So done with Hostgator. All their websites are down, including mine and we never get a rebate. Absolute trash company, trash services. Now I need to spend an entire day tomorrow migrating my website to a new host that doesn't absolutely suck.

It's not enough to be against AI, you need to be pro art. You need to be a champion of the art you love, you need to share that passion and joy, and do what you can to support the artists who make it, because it's not enough to hate AI, to hate what it's doing to art and media; you gotta love.

I did a tonne of research so you don't have to. I talk about masking, air filtration, and air quality rating systems, & I give concrete suggestions to help you keep yourself and your loved ones safe. If you don't have this information yet, it's time to get educated. Wildfires don't respect borders.

For folks struggling to figure out how to deal with wildfire smoke, I put together some information a few years ago: apihtawikosisan.com/2023/09/miti...

AAAARGH one of my lesson PPTs somehow got corrupted and I lost the whole thing. An entire day of work. I hate this unrealiable tech. I was able to upload it as a google slides presentation to at least recreate the slide content, but I lost my notes. Learned a lesson!

Comrades with wildfire smoke: Really do wear respiratory protection, that shit isn't just bad in the moment, it has serious long-term health implications and not just for your lungs! If you don't have an air purifier really do try to get one, if possible, and REMEMBER TO CLEAN AND CHANGE FILTERS.

When Ontario has the worst air quality on Earth just remember that the rich capitalists that run Canada from parliament and Bay Street can afford to stay indoors and avoid it. Meanwhile, you and your neighbours choke on it in small insufficiently ventilated apartments and on the streets.

THUNDER BAY: Donations can be sent to The Superior Inn Hotel & Conference Centre (555 West Arthur Street). Nadya was waiting for info about an online fundraising page last I checked. I will update if I can.

A city councillor is the latest target of a local Zionist organization for his social media posts which criticize the genocide being perpetrated by Israel. Meanwhile our police chief took a whole trip to guzzle Zionist boots in Israel and champion their tech here & it's had no impact on his career.

Not the first time I've seen U.S. politicians simply refuse to answer questions and then pretend that they actually have done so...this is a tactic I've seen used at different times in my life but it's always like stepping into bizarro land.

I got a politics boner watching this, which is less a statement on Ossoff and more a statement on how fucking starved I am for even the slightest pretense of being an actual opposition party by Dems

Open coal cars leaving Lytton will travel through these wildfires (red line) and FN communities who’ve spent the summer fighting back fires. Dozens of trains a day hauling ~200 cars full of combustibles.

Map showing active wildfire perimeters and evacuation alerts/orders in the middle Fraser canyon south of Lytton.
