(she/her) I read books, play video games, watch movies, travel and eat food. And make puns.
Me on long haul: comfy airplane outfit, reusable water bottle filled up past security, snacks from outside airport, good nights' sleep before, neck pillow, good headphones, at least two books Me on short haul: getting through on coffee and a bad croissant, and less sleep as it is a 5am flight.
Torn between buying all the clothes that fit my style, understanding that overconsumption is bad for the environment, and the responsible need to budget.
Airplane Fun With Apple! So my flight from Dublin had an hour delay, but that's not too bad, it's an interesting airport. We finally get on board and start taxiing. We get to the runway...
My clothes should: - make little children think I'm a princess - make older children wonder what book I fell out of - and make teenagers ask if I time-traveled from the past
Torn between wanting cabin crew to think "what a cool, calm and collected passenger, she'll be help in an emergency" and anxiety that the airplane staff will actually therefore ask me to help.
Hello, we decided that the obvious solution to heat was to make people stand outside in full sun.
"I'll pack my blue dress, and the red white and blue necklace that goes with it" ... remembers I'm going to Republic of Ireland *puts red white and blue necklace back in my jewellery box*
We've gone over a month without rain in my part of the UK and it doesn't look like we're getting much anytime soon. Couple that with the fact it's been unseasonably hot and sunny, and a lot of plants around here are dying.
Does it bother anyone else that companies can give your details to multiple different sites as part of your job? Between time off, training, payslips, and pensions, my manager has signed me up to at least four different websites. Without my consent, just "we're using this site now."
Valkyria Chronicles is a masterclass in creating a setting through a simple plot point. "It's the Second Europan War." Okay, great, I now know roughly what to expect from this setting with regards to culture, history and technology.
"Alright, time to get my Dad's paperwork together for the Irish Foreign Births Register, this should be easy, I know all the details this time!" *FreeBMD result: no matches* "Okay, well... you know how your father was born in Germany, when your Grandad was stationed abroad?" "Oh, come on!"
I got them! James Murphy married Phyllis Jones in March 1940 in Wycombe, in England, where he was probably stationed during the war. There is a website where people have digitised the UK GRO records for free and with a much better search system.
matched my grandmother's. Between their ages and the age of Dad's oldest sibling, I only have about a 2-year window (roughly 1940-1942) to search. The only other thing I have to go on is that my grandmother was Welsh, so my best guess is somewhere in Wales.
... I need his marriage certificate. The issue is, I have no idea when or where this marriage took place. It could have been in a completely different country as my grandfather was often stationed abroad with the British Armed Forces.
Found my Northern Irish grandfather's details and have ordered a copy of his birth certificate, one step closer to a potential Irish passport.

Me if I get diverted while flying: ooh a new adventure! Me when my usual route home is blocked and I had to drive another route: this is the biggest inconvenience anyone has ever faced I deserve a medal for this
I've always been one of those people who feel like I'm not good at anything. I'm not solving the world's problems with science, I was never going to win medals in sports, and I can't draw at all. But give me some ingredients and I can make a good meal, and I do think that's an achievement.
Yes, obviously it is suspended, but is it operating or not? Useless TfL app.
We regret to inform you that the heat conference has been cancelled due to heat
We regret that our event on Extreme Heat: Improving governance and strengthening action around the world has been cancelled due to the red extreme heat warning issued by the UK Met Office. Our apologies to everyone who was planning to attend the event.
The temperature might reach 95F here tomorrow My workplace still mandates black clothing
