My book series’s draft pile is turning two at the start of November. Part of me is tempted to see if I can pull together a mostly complete draft of book one before then. There’s only a few scenes entirely unwritten. Rest are in various versions through the pile.

Someone should invent a phone app that shuffles your app icons overnight so that when you reflexively go to open social media, you instead get your flashcards app. Half the time I'm opening Bluesky just to fidget anyway. Might as well be productive.

Today I found some paper drafts of the earliest echoes of my novel series. I stored them thinking one day I would turn them into a proper story. I am pleased to report my feeling rereading them is now more cringe than “hope I can write it someday”. The series is apparently coming along well! 😂

I am only one week's assigned reading into this semester's philosophy class and already I can tell this is going to be one of those ones where I want to peel off my skin and ascend from humanity by the end. Which is to say... good stuff!

One of my cats, absolute sweetheart of a boy, is afraid of everything. That includes heavy rain. So I've spent the past 20 minutes on the floor with him, sitting between him and the windows, making sure he knows the rain will get me first.

Writing is bs sometimes. What do you mean I can invent entire worlds, birth people into existence, and solve complex confrontations with simply the power of my own mind but the dishes still need doing?

You will die. You will not live forever. Nor will any man nor any thing. Nothing is immortal. But only to us is it given to know that we must die. And that is a great gift: the gift of selfhood. For we have only what we know we must lose, what we are willing to lose.

Playing #FFXIV outside the MSQ is a wild ride. There are online calculators for everything. Gardening, fishing, crafting… I tripped into the wild world of FC submarines for the first time tonight and there are whole sites out there for it.

I wrapped up the core structure of the conlang that will appear in my novel series. Most of it will never show on page but a) it gives more cultural information on the speakers and b) if anyone ever tries to show the language in video, at least it has consistency now! #WeeknightWriters

Q3: Let's cheer things up a bit! What has brought you joy in the past week? Remember, no joy is too small! #WeeknightWriters

Notepad that says “#WeeknightWriters

Let’s cheer things up a bit! What is one thing that’s brought you joy this week?”
