U.S. President Donald Trump's administration plans to spend $4 million to bolster right-wing media in Europe, within a package of at least $25 million to support conservative causes in the region, sources have said.

Trump to spend $4 million bolstering right-wing media in Europe, sources say

The grants risk deepening tensions between the Trump administration and European governments, some of which have already accused Washington of interfering.

Andy Burnham has retreated from his longstanding calls for the so-called Elgin Marbles to return to Greece, now saying that the future of the 2,500-year-old carvings is a matter for the British Museum to resolve. Read the full story here: ft.trib.al/4hL9Itj

A “hyperscale” datacentre in outer London would generate more than 1m tonnes of carbon dioxide a year. Not compatible with Net Zero. What devolution/democracy? Local councils bypassed, people ignored by Ministers chasing growth. Datacentres produce few long-term jobs, guzzle energy.

Proposed London datacentre ‘incompatible’ with net zero with 1m-tonne carbon footprint

Newsnight, billed as the most intelligent news programme on the BBC, has so far spent the entire show talking about Harry and Meghan returning to Britain. It’s all done with the breathless hyperbole of a 1930s Pathe news reel. What a ridiculous country. It’s embarrassing to live here 90% of the time

I promised to roll out health MOTs during the election - and today I launched them in Dundee. Starting in Tayside, Glasgow and Aberdeen, you’ll be able to get heart and lung checks in everyday places. It’s about prevention, catching problems early and ultimately, saving lives.

My latest blog piece. BBC Scotland's hit piece on Glasgow tells us a lot more about the agenda of the BBC in Scotland than it does about Glasgow. The BBC's great unmentionable is the link between far right protests, Loyalism & British nationalism. weegingerdug.wordpress.com/2026/08/19/t...

The BBC’s Glasgow hit piece says more about the BBC than Glasgow

I’ve already briefly mentioned BBC Scotland’s disgraceful hit job on Glasgow which was broadcast earlier this week, but it’s worth exploring the issues around the programme in mor…

If the Labour Party in Scotland was one of your close relatives, your wider family would by now have organised an intervention in an attempt to divert them from their self-destructive pattern of behaviour in the hope they’d mend their ways before it got too late, Paul Kavanagh ✍️

A tiny number of billionaire owned firms dominate our media. Murdoch’s News UK & Rothermere’s DMG Media alone control much of the news. Our system of regulation is voluntary & toothless. The media should challenge power, have a diversity of views & be independent.

Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

The 60 largest planned data centers could produce the same amount of carbon dioxide emissions as 27 coal plants. Big Tech CEOs are polluting our planet and selling out our future to line their own pockets. We need a data center moratorium — now.

I'm not sure if this is the BBC trying to campaign for Reform or against Scottish Independence or both. But I live in this city and the selective narrative and strap line is nothing but bad faith.

The list goes on. Lord Toby Young failed to get the requisite grades into Oxford , appealed and only when his dad a Baron, intervened that they suddenly found a place for him. The country is failing because it is run by incompetent, over privileged, undereducated wealthy white men. Prove me wrong

Just like Boris Johnson you mean? Who {checks notes} became PM on the back of his own ego.

Thing to keep in mind about this is the 50MW figure, which is still a lot of power, may 50MW centres would start to add up. Also many data centres put forward initial applications for smaller centres but with future intentions to expand dramatically. #datacentres www.thenational.scot/news/2647019...

It’s time we sorted out the press. Constant misinformation to protect their donors and fossil fuels is destroying lives and our planet. The Government must step up and stop being cowardly.

Sorry Zack Polanski this long hot summer is not the apocalypse - it's like a gloriously long holiday in France

I think this is the first time a British politican has used this absurd and repellent concept, developed by Canadian academic Gad Saad, which has been swilling around the far right ecosystem for quite a while.

"This is not generosity. It is suicidal empathy" writes Robert Jenrick (Telegraph www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/08...) quotes in para 3 of the BBC report, with a link. "Suicidal empathy" is also the core phrase Elon Musk wants to popularise to promote remigration, political violence + civil war
