If anyone needs to know this, most plastic wrap in the US is made from polyethylene, but plastic wrap in Europe is made from PVC. This really matters if you are trying to make a decorative sugar dome for a cake after you saw them do it on a British baking show. #chemsky

Note to self: decrease shrimp consumption for awhile. (Also, this article is super interesting.)
after the 10th radioactive shrimp recall in 7 weeks, i decided to do some digging little did i know it would lead me to an underreported industrial accident that may have released an airborne plume of radioactive debris over swaths of indonesia www.consumerreports.org/health/food-...

#ACSFall2025 Come see my talk about new Python notebooks for pchem (and more), giving students choice to get them to code, and why we should consider student identity when teaching programming. Room 140B at 4:55pm
No one is talking about the fact that adiabatic is not accepted in spelling bee today? What are the rest of you doing on your flights to #ACSFall2025? (And no, I haven’t finished my slides yet. It’s a long way from the west coast to DC. I’ve still got plenty of time.)
This is an excellent thread about some of the AI issues faculty should be thinking about this fall. I am by no means an AI hater, and I think a lot about what we should be teaching students about machine learning and generative AI. I think this is a very thoughtful piece.
