I've seen several pieces of US media set in idyllic small towns with big fuckoff lakes that function as liminal boundaries between the Known and the Unknown in which a major character attempts suicide by drowning, and now I'm wondering if the Liminal Death Lake is just a thing US small towns have.

Tip for level designers: Get one of these, go to a cafe, and relax. Many of my best level design ideas existed on paper first. Tip for notepad manufacturers: Many level designers would be excited about hexagon patterns instead of square grids.
