I was trying to use ChatGPT to help me format a bibtex (I do not use latex), and I was so annoying with its flattery that I asked it to stop and just give me a response. It literally couldn’t stop.

ICYMI my solo article on MENA identity. When MENA Americans aren’t given a “MENA” option on forms, they answer identity-related questions on politics more strongly (eg higher end of the scale) than if“MENA” had been added. Having the group label or not changes the average response!

I assigned sinners for my course on racial formation this week. I hope they win so I can feel like a genius professor who planned this ahead of time.

I know no one is in the Nowruz spirit this year. But that’s exactly how the regime continues to win, by beating down our spirit. We need to try our best not to let them win.

Sometimes it is kind of a shame we only work with students only one semester. I have had the absolute privilege of working with a handful of students for the entire year, and it's been so crazy cool to see their thinking take shape over that time.

My grandma’s apartment building has burned down. Fortunately she’s safe, and we can help her. But so many people in Iran are so poor and don’t have anyone. This regime propagated their misery for years. They funded terrorism globally while Iranian people go hungry.

My partner is in the Metropolitan Opera Chorus, and we both agree opera has work to do to broaden its appeal. However, these companies also employ hundreds—sometimes thousands—of employees, many of whom are unionized. Both artistically and politically, Chalamet’s point is a horrendous one.
