A Haitian immigrant who had grown increasingly distraught after losing his protection from deportation and being outfitted with an ankle monitor was run over and killed Monday in what his family believes was a suicide.

I had some time to dive into this. There's an ICR entry from a few weeks ago captioned as "No material or nonsubstantive change to a currently approved collection". I call bullshit. This is a misclassification to avoid public comment on a major change.

I would really like to thank FedEx for closing the only collection location remotely close to town available after 7:30pm. I've had to drive out to the airport cargo terminal three times in the last week.

This isn't even accurate. Termination of TPS doesn't mean people are present illegally. It just means TPS is terminated. There are lots of people with pending cases for permanent residence or asylum (and probably some who still have valid nonimmigrant status though I would doubt it's very many).

We are a broken nation. Hundreds of thousands of Haitians were living and working legally, paying taxes, and contributing. Haiti remains wholly unsafe. But Trump hates Haitians, and the White House wanted videos of Black people in chains, so they stripped them of status and turned on the cameras.

It used to be getting the notice of politicians or the media was something that could work in your favor. I'm pretty sure the psychopaths that run the deportation apparatus now look at the particularly compelling stories the media pick up as an opportunity to be even more horrible.

These people must have some sort of fetish for having their fees shot down in court. You can't just throw a $100k fee on anything you don't like. It's limited to being revenue neutral. Anything beyond is a tax. $100,000 for OPT? For lottery entries? Get fucking serious.

I'll believe this when visas start issuing. Until then some combination of _Hawaii_ and consular nonreviewabilty are going to block this quickly. And the latter will make actually enforcing the decision virtually impossible even if technically sound.
