Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).

The underrated irony of the Right's failed (and laughably short-lived) attempt to recast Kirk as their MLK, as their own civil-rights martyr, is that Kirk focused much of his last 18 months on discrediting King and the Civil Rights Act, wanting to remove him from the pantheon of American heroes.

the media in this country treats bigotry coming from a place of fear as a valid public position. eventually this leads you to the ludicrous place where “the muslim mayor of new york city shouldn’t attend the 25th anniversary commemoration of 9/11” is treated as newsworthy opinion

Trending: NYC mayor's 9/11 memorial controversy This framing is 🐴💩. The “controversy” isn't Mamdani's; it's 9/11 families don't want the Muslim mayor at this year's ceremonies. Mamdani was 9 years old on 9/11. His parents were born in India. And AL-QAEDA brought down the towers, NOT global Islam.

‘ONE NIGHT ONLY’ director Will Gluck says they cut out “so much nudity” from the film because he thinks audiences dislike sex on screen. “Whenever people now see nudity or very adult situations in a big theater, they get uncomfortable.” (Source: variety.com/2026/film/fe...)

This is all crap of course, but maybe he thinks “everybody is leaving California” because everybody WHO HE KNOWS there are telling him they're leaving, because everybody he knows in California are billionaires and they're all threatening to leave over the billionaire's tax

The New York Times refuses to include captions on the photos on its homepage, so if you're just scrolling through, you might assume their featured picture of Mitch McConnell is current when it's really from two months ago.

Not a single word about how these tariffs violate both our WTO & USCMA obligations. Every time Trump does this, the NYT & other outlets simply write as if we live in an international vacuum, where the US has no obligations under signed, ratified international treaties. It's journalistic malpractice.

This is the top of the New York Times home page right now. I ask you: What's going on in this picture? Who is protesting, against whom, over what? How does this relate to any of the accompanying headlines? Why can't they caption photos on their home page?
