I repurposed my old Samsung S10+ as a duckweed growth monitoring server without any extra hardware. All processing done via termux on the phone. Thank you Claude for the from-scratch blob detection bc no termux OpenCV packages available. Needs work but not bad for a oneshot!
Ive been using this in my golden braid reactions and might actually go isothermal, speeding up a lot of my cloning runs. Only $8 more expensive than regular T4 Ligase. @NEBiolabs knocks it out of the park, yet again.

Plot twist!!!! It's the root veggies that make the strain this color! Color not fully developed yet, and it gets darker as the veggies boil longer, not because of new ingredients, imo. #bluesoup

PHEW! Did an insane amount of physical therapy last week and took a lil time off to recover. Finally making inroads to fixing my spine and not be in endless pain. Excited to be back at the helm and continue my (mis)adventures in plant bioengineering. Let's do this.

It's wild how actually useful my chemistry courses have been in my bioengineering uncareer. One of the few value adds my brief experience with undergrad education afforded me. Gen chem, orgo, and obviously biochem were excellent at Stony Brook University. Top shelf chem dept!

A call out to our former postdoc John Mallon (not in social media), who contributed to both device development and “biology” :). John evolved a salt-loving archaeon to love salt a bit less (2.6M down to 1.3M!). Cells recovered growth rate AND cell morphology. Congrats Phil, Sebastian, and John!
