To thank NASA for the flawlessly executed launch, our dear leader is once again requesting a 50% cut to NASA science. But hey, who needs science when you can have a ballroom you will never see, a jet you will never board, and a war? www.instagram.com/p/DWrEWbyFto...

BREAKING: @whitehouse unveils 2027 PBR, including an encore ask for 23% cut to NASA overall and 50% cut to NASA science, plus zeroed out the Office of STEM. (Read in full on WhiteHouse.org, pages 73-75.) We fought and won this once, we will do it again. #nasaneedshelp #artemisii #PBR2027

This isn't the point of Alec's post but it's a good springboard for this. This kind of stuff is why funding of things like NASA is so important. Modern day high capacity solar panels were pioneered by NASA and that's not the only major modern resource that they've done that for.

OK, I haven't considered that some of the arguments I find myself in these days are coming from people who still think solar energy and battery storage are expensive. Already the LCOE from solar+storage is cheaper than anything else. Seemed like the obvious outcome to me since the sun is free.

I mean we all agree, right, that is no democracy when one demented guy can decide to take a country to war while hundreds of millions have to wait with baited breath to see if he is dumb and evil enough to destroy their lives and blow up the world?

Watching MAGA gloat over Jimmy Kimmel, I am realizing that the most rabid commie haters only hated the USSR because they were told to, not because they actually disagreed with authoritarianism. Who knew they hated everything America used to stand for so much?

Looking to follow people from all over the world to see through your eyes the life in Brazil, Bahrain, Botswana, Belize and everything in between.

This is my fancy federal building. The water is pretty much undrinkable, so we bring it from home. We also chip in for coffee. I know, Feds are so spoiled.

So, one of the categories for the NYT’s Connections yesterday was “Things that make you cry.” I saw the connection in 2 seconds flat. Pretty sure it means I have a PhD in crying.

I do not remember ANY American EVER telling me that they hated Canada until Trump made Canada into our “enemy”. If you’re now hating Canada on demand, it’s time to admit you just love to hate.
