Thinking about this more, I wonder if folks realize how mean they are being to EEs who work in electronics. They *make electronics* but a ton of the field is fully automated. Most of the practical training is in using the modeling tools and feeding the robots. But there is a TON of theory.

A lot of shit people think is driven by an evil conspiracy of elites is actually mostly driven by large numbers of consumers and/or voters finding a (potentially quite shitty) equilibrium of desires, at least in places with relatively high political and economic freedom, which the US is.

i regret trying the iOS/WatchOS betas. they fuckin suck. Siri is worse now.
i know it sounds like i'm talking about ~productivity~ but it's not really about that, that's just the most overt sign. i use it to stand in for how it feels to have a brain full of wasps, to hate everything, to love nothing, to want nothing except the end of not wanting anything.

The attacker had no constraints, but HF's response ran afoul of the abuse guardrails, forcing them into an unplanned switch to local models. Also, IME the overlap between people who say "you are bad for using AI, ask a real expert instead" and people who treat you like shit for asking them a question is quite high

as a mostly-hobby photographer, this analogy has strongly shaped my intuitions about AI art. people thought (and some still think) photography isn't art, or cannot be art, too. also i've been fucking around a little bit with serious image gen (Draw Things) and it's uhhhh not actually super simple.
