It’s hard to see because of all the tyre marks from large motor vehicles but this is actually a shared pedestrian/cycle path.
The people who complain about empty bike lanes do not want full bike lanes. They want no bike lanes.
The council are re-surfacing the road so we get a brief glimpse into how awful this road looks when we don’t have dozens of citizens storing private property on it all the time. Thank god public space is able to be used, for free, by privileged car owners.
Crazy that a major event in the Borough (an annual event so hardly a surprise!) would have zero bits of information about the event beyond a generic blurb. And then they'll complain about low attendance numbers and reduced funding.
In case anyone was making notes, no, this is not an acceptable way to behave on a train.

Hard to see in the first photo but the black car driver has stopped in the middle of the road to take pictures of the deer under the tree. Sadly, by the time I got close enough to catch it on camera the driver had started to put the phone back in the holder.

Car brains will look at this image & tell you that the problem is those 2 hire bikes on the pavement. What do you mean you can’t see them? Next to the HGV that’s parked on the pavement. No! Not that HGV on the pavement. The other HGV that’s on the pavement. Yes!! Those hire bikes are the problem.

Yet another life taken because our society and leaders refuse to address the destruction wrought by cars.
And our local councillor is still mystified why “no one uses” the bike lane? Obviously, I was only using the bike lane to take a picture of the driver blocking it so that doesn’t count.
I’ve developed a new Rorschach test. Simply show this image anyone and ask them which vehicle is geo-restricted, speed restricted and the subject of a nationwide campaign to ban them from our public spaces. See how many identify the huge heavy van as the cause of broken pavements.
Hard to find a more deserving recipient of a parking ticket than this driver-brain
99/100 car-brains will look at this photo and genuinely believe that we only need to have stricter parking enforcement on hire bikes.
I should add that I was VERY conflicted about this. I really want these dangerous vehicles off the road so was reluctant to help the motorbiker. But that driver was driving recklessly and could easily take me out next time so he needs to learn a lesson here. Not exactly Sophie’s choice though.

I had a quiet word with the motorbike guy and suggested he try and get the driver to admit fault and pay a small sum to fix the bike rather than go through insurance as they won’t pay for an illegal bike.
