It’s always fascinating when gentiles take it upon themselves to declare what is and isn’t antisemitic, rather than ask people who are actually familiar with how they have spent 2000 years being subject to the many ways it has been used to caricature, diminish, libel and cause violence to Jews.
Will Stancil@whstancil.bsky.social · 2w agoI wouldn’t call this antisemitic - AIPAC is bad, it is very active in US elections, it often utilizes shady tactics. But it’s part of what I would say is growing gray-area rhetoric in US politics, where the focus on AIPAC/Israel feels disproportionate and the power it holds is exaggerated.
The fact that a joint technology program for missile defense, cyber, and AI, is being portrayed as “merging militaries” by so many accounts, and often with similar responses of uncritical outrage shows both the dangers of social media and how primed people are to believe libels based on the target.

The only reason Mamdani is making the statement at all is because he made a provocative and yet deeply unserious campaign promise to arrest Netanyahu if Bibi set foot in New York and is now having to address why exactly he's not gonna do it ahead of Bibi setting foot in New York.
