I make fancy kitchens and wardrobes and stuff, but mostly post a load of old rubbish www.themoderncarpenter.com

My dad’s funeral today, and I realise I’m fearing it not because funerals are awful (I think they can be wonderful things), but because it’s finally final. Until today, he’s just not been here. After, he’ll be gone.

I don't understand why you would want to be a billionaire unless it was to bring even a tenth of the goodness into the world that Dolly did. What's the point of all that wealth if you keep it to yourself and use it for ill?

Devastating, as @hannahfearn.bsky.social says. However, one line jumped out at me, from someone genuinely sympathetic: "He says the education system needs to equip young people to be “much more versatile and chameleon-like” to adapt to the unpredictability of the future." Quick 🧵... /1

This is a devastating read. The fact that there's a narrative circulating, primarily by people with no connection to the reality of young lives, that we're living through a pandemic of laziness makes it unbearable. www.theguardian.com/society/2026...

Just went to the tip, saw a chap struggling with a bag of garden clippings so said "can i give you a hand, mate?" and he said, and I *promise* I'm not making this up, "that'd be good" whilst waggling the hook he had on the end of his left arm

Bit of workshop catchup for next week’s install - it’s nice and cool in here. But there’s nothing like doing your mirror mitres to reveal your middle aged melting face

A man with a sagging face over a mirror. He looks old and shocked. That man is me.

I've not seen one person say anything positive about Wes Streeting. Not a single one. Presumably Wes knows no one likes him either, which must be why his face always has the slightly stunned look of someone who just shat themself in public

A little bit of calm - this very bold Robin fledgling enjoyed me doing a bit of planting and stirring up insects. Hope he’s not TOO bold, there’s a few cats regularly in the garden.

Ok this is the photo I should’ve posted last night, not the blurry one. Blame post-ride pints. King John looking out over a dramatic sky and full moon in Axbridge town square

A wooden carving of king John on a Tudor timber frame building, with a mackerel cloudy sky just filtering over the full moon
