A3. Volunteering key but it is also a privilege. Goes & Companies should invest in volunteering hours for their employees-both for internal/external work. No one can expect colleagues/PwD to do extra unpaid work: #disabilityTax. Also: expertise must be paid, specially lived experience #AXSChat

A2. By inviting people with lived experience and accessibility expertise to participate. Think-tanks should be inclusive, welcoming & safe places for trans disciplinary innovation. There is no innovation without #a11y. Good innovators welcome new challenges #ARCInnovators feels like home. #AXSChat

I guess it’s time for our bimonthly talk about alt text. What is it? A caption added to an image or GIF primarily for the purpose of helping blind/ low vision users navigate the website. Who should do it? Anyone posting an image or GIF. How do I do it? Tap the alt text icon when uploading. 1/

There’s even a hashtag (hashtag alt4me) and a kind volunteer will add alt text. Just blurting your posts out into the world without giving that context of intending to include people gives the impression you can’t be bothered. And that’s not terribly inclusive. Just ask. There’s no shame in it.

Just been relooking at this. One of the first tools to be released is Fonttik github.com/electronicar... A tool for reviewing accessibility of type and fonts with in games. I can already see the potential for these patents stretching beyond gaming & affecting the development of digital services.
