New paper from my student, Shasha Yu, which finds a paradox in AI risk: students with technical training have higher awareness of AI risk, but are no better at recognising these in real-world scenarios. They also report greater willingness to adopt AI. 🔗https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ssaho.2026.102751

Thank you to Health and Care Research Wales for their support this year, which enabled me to spend dedicated time working with the team at the Wales Kidney Research Unit at UHW. This support helped define the groundwork for my future research on kidney preservation for transplantation.

Monasteries & cathedrals with 1,500 years of history, and half-a-billion-year-old rock formations. After 5+ years in Cardiff, I finally visited West Wales. As I work on ageing and preservation, I have to wonder what it would take for lifespans to reach these timescales.

The Natural History Museum in London is a true cathedral of science. The architecture alone is breathtaking! The words on Darwin’s plinth capture its spirit perfectly: "Freedom of thought is best promoted by the gradual illuminations of men's minds, which follows the advance of science."
